Existing BCC Publications Highlighted

  • Family Child Care Financial Planning and Facilities Development Manual: An expanded version of the Insight Center Maneuvering the Maze materials, specifically for family child care providers. This Manual includes five detailed chapters designed to help family child care providers manage the financial side of their businesses and plan for a facility development project including expanding, renovating, building or purchasing a family child care home. Available in Spanish and Chinese.
  • Child Care Center Financial Planning and Facilities Development Manual: A revised and expanded version of the Insight Center Maneuvering the Maze materials. This Manual includes four detailed chapters designed to help child care center directors and owners manage the financial side of their businesses and plan for a facility development project including expanding, renovating, building or purchasing a center. Available in Spanish.
  • Child Care Facilities Development Check list: A general guideline for understanding the steps involved in the process of financing and developing child care center facilities in California.
  • Child Care Facility Site Selection: this publication includes information on the types of professional consultants that can help you in the process and will provide recommendations on how to secure a child care facility.

  • The "Reinvesting in Child Care": web page includes general information on the economic recovery act, including implementation guidance from the Office of Management and Budget, state by state breakdowns of CCDBG economic recovery funds, and a recording of CLASP's audio conference on the act as it relates to early childhood. We will be updating this page with additional resources as they become available.
  • Helpful Tools: for child care professionals efficiently and effectively manage family child care homes and child care center programs.
  • NIEER Releases State of Preschool 2008 Yearbook: NIEER's annual analysis of state-funded preschool programs, released on April 8, 2009.
  • Facilities for Early Care and Education Programs: Quality early care and education programs benefit children, families, and communities. A considerable body of research demonstrates the value of high-quality early care and educa-tion to improving the life chances of poor children.
